Asphalt driveways in North Alabama face heat, heavy rain, and freeze-thaw cycles that gradually wear down the surface. The most common problems we repair include:

Driveway repair is the right choice when damage is limited to specific areas and the overall base remains structurally sound. A few potholes, isolated cracks, or a sunken section near the garage can be repaired without replacing the entire driveway. The key is addressing problems early—water entering through cracks erodes the stone base beneath, turning a small repair into a much larger problem. If you notice cracks widening or potholes forming, scheduling a repair promptly can add years to your driveway's life.

If your driveway has widespread surface cracking, fading, or minor settling across most of its area but the base is still solid, resurfacing may be a better investment than spot repairs. Resurfacing applies a fresh layer of hot-mix asphalt over the entire driveway, creating a uniform new surface while addressing multiple problem areas at once. We evaluate whether your base can support an overlay during the on-site inspection.

Not every damaged driveway can be repaired. If the sub-base has failed extensively—indicated by widespread alligator cracking, large areas of sinking, or pavement that flexes under vehicle weight—targeted repairs will not hold. In these cases, complete driveway replacement is the most cost-effective long-term solution. We honestly assess the condition of your driveway and recommend the approach that provides the best value, whether that is repair, resurfacing, or replacement.

For pothole and section repairs, we saw-cut a clean rectangular boundary around the damaged area, excavate down to solid base material, and recompact the stone base if needed. A tack coat of liquid asphalt binder is applied to the edges to ensure the new hot-mix bonds securely. We then place and compact hot-mix asphalt in layers until the patch is flush with the surrounding surface. The result is a durable repair that integrates with the existing pavement and resists future water intrusion.

After repairs are completed, sealcoating the entire driveway helps protect both the repaired areas and the existing surface. Sealcoating fills hairline cracks, blocks water penetration, and creates a uniform black appearance that blends patched areas with the rest of the driveway. We recommend waiting for the new asphalt to cure before applying sealer.
